I recently got a wild hair up my ass and decided that I wanted to play Starcraft and Starcraft: Brood War again. Installed Starcraft just fine through PlayOnLinux and the 1.15.2 patch applied just fine as well, but I couldn't seem to install Brood War using the POL installation script.
Starcraft Brood War Download Pc
It would continually error out saying: Internal errors - invalid parameters receivedSo after a little headscratching and fiddling, I figured out a way around it, and since no one has posted a solution I decided that I'd post it here in case anyone else is running into this.I have confirmed that this works under 1.9.18. This is written assuming you've gotten as far as successfully installing Starcraft and/or the 1.15.2 patch through PlayOnLinux but are stuck trying to install Brood War. Make sure that in the Wine settings for your Starcraft wineprefix you've checked 'Emulate a virtual desktop' with the resolution of 800x600 under the Graphics tab of the Wine configuration menu. Starcraft and Brood War are locked to 800x600 by default and running it in a virtual desktop makes everything a bit easier. Next, from your POL configuration window for your Starcraft wineprefix, under the Wine tab, you should see a Command Prompt button.
Mash that sucker and your 800x600 virtual desktop should pop up with a DOS command prompt.I have the physical CDs for both Starcraft and the expansion, so this was a little easier for me but I imagine if you have a disc image for Brood War mounted this process should be the same. For the sake of simplicity I'm going to refer to my optical drive as D. If you've got a disc image mounted somewhere just replace D: with whatever the drive letter is where your disc image is mounted. From the command prompt, navigate to your Brood Wars disc by entering 'D:' at the command prompt and pressing enter. Once there, enter 'start setup.exe' and hit enter.
The Brood Wars installer should pop right open. Install Brood Wars like normal by smashing that big 'Install Starcraft: Brood Wars' link. Once installation has finished, run the game and apply the most current patch (1.16.1) by entering the Multiplayer menu and allow the Battle.Net updater to patch your game.Congratulations, now you can play Brood Wars on your non-Windows PC in an 800x600 window without having to have the CD installed.Hope this helps someone or at least turns up in a Google search.TL;DR: just install it from the command prompt in your Starcraft wine prefix.
